Casa, Sewing thread embroided on bed sheet fabric, wire and magnets, 2025
Casa (Home) is an object inhabited inside. Its shape is an outline of the spaces that live inside of us, where we store memories, hopes, fears and where we allow ourselves to dream. It's a piece that arose from the need to materialize thoughts into a physical space, to turn this small object into an interior place. Embroidered on this house are six walls, a roof and a floor. Each piece of this house has a text attached to it, some are reflections collected from my notebooks, written over the last few years, others are dreamy ideas and some are meditations on the spaces I've lived in throughout my life.
In the gesture of embroidery, I discovered a way to give body to the words that I found inside of me. This piece is an invitation to everyone to practice this same movement, to touch their own experiences inside themselves, looking at the spaces and the stories that make them up. Home is an object that perpetually oscillates between meaning inside and out, of the self and the other.
