   This room was born in the search for a space of silence within myself and others. Here I invited people to bring, as part of the work, a piece of themselves to be carried by others. I was interested in evoking an intimate environment and establishing a safe and anonymous system of exchange between people. They could only enter the space one at a time, it was a small dark room with a round table displaying seven metal matchboxes, matches, a pile of sand, a pencil, small pieces of paper and the text displayed above. I have little knowledge over the things that have been written and burned in this space. Each writting hand knows what they have left behind and brought along with them. This confiding space confronts and reveals people’s senses of what it means to trust, share and respect, and it remains with the people that entered it.
